Debbie Macomber & Joan

Debbie Macomber & Joan

Dear Reader,

Fall is in the air!  As my favorite football team, the Denver Broncos, rev up the season, I had the great pleasure of watching them take on the Seahawks with my friend, Debbie Macomber, in her skybox at Seattle’s Century Link Field.

Rocky Mountain Honor Flight of WWII veterans at Marine Memorial

Dear Reader,

School is back in session, so for many of you, life can return to “normal.” I recently had the joy of being a guardian for a Rocky Mountain Honor Flight of WWII veterans – ages 85-98 – visiting numerous war memorials in Washington, D.C. and had the pleasure of sharing the stories of their service in WWII.

Dear Reader,

joanandloganatbroncos2014Having just put my grandson on a plane back to Florida, I’m thinking how lucky I am to live in a place with such great opportunities for adventure. We had a blast! From the challenging white water of the Cache la Poudre River to the wave pool at Water World, Denver Broncos football, bowling, games, movies, and an American Idol Concert, it was a crazy, hectic, amazing week.

I’ve been traveling a lot this summer, so the release of UNFORGETTABLE has been delayed, but it will be available soon. I’ll be sure to let you know when it’s (finally!) on-line.

Dear Reader – July 2014

Dear Reader,

HedwigAngryInch_292Summer is heating up for me in more ways than just high temperatures. Yes, it’s hot here in Colorado but I’ve been especially busy with conference speaking, writing and travel with more to come. Sometimes feel more like a circus juggler than author!

Just arrived back from New York where I spoke at Craftfest, a part of Thrillerfest conference, on How to Write the Unputdownable Novel. My son flew in from Seattle to attend the conference and turned out to be a huge help to me during my own workshop. More people attended than I’d anticipated and I ran out of handouts. Blake managed to photocopy enough so everyone left with a copy–along with one of my books. I talked about “hooking” the reader at the beginning and the end of each chapter. It’s what I try to do with every book.

Dear Reader – June 2014

Dear Reader - June 2014

Dear Reader,

It already feels like summer, even though it doesn’t officially arrive until June 22. I planted flowers from seeds this year, which haven’t come up yet, but I bought a few full-grown violets and petunias to enjoy while I wait for my garden to grow!

I’m delighted to say that those of you who’ve been waiting so patiently (and impatiently) for Lydia’s story, UNFORGETTABLE, the next Benedict Brothers book following INVINCIBLE, will soon be rewarded. UNFORGETTABLE will be available as an e-book—in all formats—on July 1.

Dear Reader – April 2014

Dear Reader - April 2014

Dear Reader,

Spring has finally sprung! Tulips and daffodils are popping up everywhere, and the song birds are out in full force. Working with my windows flung wide open today, I’m enjoying the soft breeze blowing across my keyboard.

Got some wonderful news this past month! Thanks to you, MONTANA BRIDE is still on the shelves and my publisher had to go back and reprint more copies. I appreciate all your support! I celebrated by taking myself out to dinner—shrimp scampi, salad greens with gorgonzola cheese, walnuts, and beets, and some amazing bread with pesto.

Dear Reader - March 4, 2014

Dear Readers,

Yippee!!! I’m celebrating the completion of SINFUL, the first book in my “King’s Brats” series of Bitter Creek novels, by heading to Palm Springs to enjoy a few days of watching pros play tennis at the Indian Wells tournament. Tennis is one of the ways I release stress—by whacking balls to the other side of the court. Luckily, I have a place to play indoors, because the weather in Colorado has been cold, cold, cold! But, like Beauty and the Beast, I can see this magnificent sunrise from my back porch. (photo above)

Dear Reader - January 30, 2014

Dear Reader,

Joan_Rhett_DebbieWhat a wonderful year it has been, and it’s not even February yet! Thanks to all of you, MONTANA BRIDE debuted at #8 on the New York Times paperback bestseller list on January 26. I was fortunate to do a radio interview with Debbie Macomber and Rhett Palmer, “Vero’s Voice,” which may also have contributed to a few of those sales.

Reader Letter – December 2013

Reader Letter - December 2013

Dear Reader,

ABitterCreekChristmas_265It’s here! My Christmas novella, A Bitter Creek Christmas, is now available from Amazon as an e-book for $1.49. Luckily, you don’t need an e-reader to be able to enjoy it. You can also download it to your phone or tablet. Check out these instructions.

Naturally, I had to celebrate A Bitter Creek Christmas with five couples from your favorite Bitter Creek novels: Summer and Billy, Kate and Wyatt, Owen and Bay, Joss and North, and Libby and Clay. They’ve all come to the ranch at Bitter Creek to enjoy the holiday together and await the arrival of Libby and North’s long-lost brother, Matt Grayhawk. Matt heads the cast of characters in my upcoming Bitter Creek series, “King’s Brats,” which begins with Sinful, coming later next year in paperback. Download your copy of this Bitter Creek Christmas novella now.
